Bobcats Team Report
(Thu, 02 Sep 2010 22:35:07 PDT)
Superficially, at least, the craziest reunion in the NBA might be Bobcats owner Michael Jordan and free agent big man Kwame Brown.
Remember, Jordan (then running the Washington Wizards' basketball operation) used the No. 1 overall pick on Brown in 2001. If you strip out injury situations, Brown might have been the worst use of the first overall pick in recent memory. And Jordan never let him forget it once he left management to play for the Wizards.
So why did the Bobcats sign Brown to a veteran-minimum contract of $1.3 million for next season?
Because it was a veteran-minimum contract. Brown never panned out as an impact player; not in Washington or with the Lakers, Grizzlies or Pistons.

Bobcats will try to trade Dampier
(Wed, 25 Aug 2010 07:06:00 PDT)
The Charlotte Bobcats will try to trade Erick Dampier and his $13 million non-guaranteed contract rather than waiving the center, according to ESPN . The Bobcats, according to the report, had hoped to release Dampier and then sign him to a significantly cheaper deal, but no agreement could be reached. That led to Monday's signing of Kwame Brown in Charlotte. Now the Bobcats will hang on to Dampier for the time being and attempt to trade him after Sept.

MJ, Bobcats sign Brown after Dampier talks stall
(Tue, 24 Aug 2010 15:50:18 PDT)
The Charlotte Bobcats thought the answer to their depth problems at center was to waive Erick Dampier to clear salary-cap space and then re-sign him for less money. When Dampier wouldn't agree to a new contract, the Bobcats looked at the next-best option. It just so happened to be Kwame Brown, considered Bobcats owner Michael Jordan's worst move as an executive.
