Pitino done testifying in extortion case

Rick Pitino, worried that his wife and kids would find out he had a one-night stand with a woman he met in a bar, acknowledged Thursday that he didn't immediately tell police about demands for cars, cash and housing in order to keep the tryst secret. The Louisville basketball coach told jurors he kept quiet for nearly two months, hoping he could "contain" the damaging information.
Arizona hoops forced to vacate 19 wins

The NCAA added to self-imposed sanctions by Arizona's men's basketball program on Thursday, vacating 19 wins from the 2007-08 season and removing an additional scholarship for violations involving Hall of Fame coach Lute Olson. WVU coach Huggins released from hospital

West Virginia University says men's basketball coach Bob Huggins has been released from a Las Vegas hospital. The university says Huggins was released Wednesday. He had been hospitalized since breaking seven ribs in a fall in his hotel room on Friday while in Nevada on a recruiting trip.
Northwestern's Coble to leave program

Kevin Coble, one of Northwestern's top players, has chosen to skip his senior season after sitting out with a broken left foot last year. The team's leading scorer and rebounder for three years, Coble was injured in a preseason practice and had surgery. In a statement, he says his rehabilitation "is most important," and he will continue to follow the schedule set by his surgeon.
Pac-10 to soon become Pac-12

For years people in the Pac-10 -- from players to fans -- have complained about a lack of recognition and a so-called East Coast bias that caused the conference to be under-appreciated nationally. Commissioner Larry Scott, who grew up in New York on Long Island, decided that instead of complaining it was time for the league to do something about it.
Drexel players suspended after charges

Drexel University athletic officials indefinitely suspended two basketball players charged in an armed robbery at a fellow student's apartment last week. Starting point guard Jamie Harris and backup forward Kevin Phillip turned themselves in to police Monday to face robbery, theft and weapons charges.
Landesberg signs with Maccabi Haifa

Israeli basketball team Maccabi Haifa has signed former Virginia guard Sylven Landesberg to a two-year contract. Maccabi Haifa owner Jeffrey Rosen said Sunday that signing Landesberg is a "great achievement" for the Super League team.
